FIRST EUROPEAN RUN ARCHERY CUP
The 1st European Run/Archery Cup took place in Berlin, Lichtenberg Stadion, from 17th to 19th September 2004, with 110 participants from Hungary, Russia, Slovenia and Germany. Delegations from Ukraine and Mongolia were also expected but eventually they could not arrive to Berlin due to visa problems.
The local club SV Bau-Union Berlin provided its pleasant facilities for the shooting area and event-related venues, whereas the 700 m running lap went around the beautiful adjacent park, and this has resulted in a very interesting competition format.
Stefan Lehmann, who is also Member of the FITA Run/Archery Adhoc Committee, and his team did not count their time to make this event successful.
The event was also supported by FITA, EMAU, the District of Berlin-Lichtenberg, and received an insurance company local sponsorship.
Beside the event, a FITA Run/Archery Committee meeting was held, chaired by FITA Council Member Willem Trienekens. Various Run/Archery development projects were considered by the Committee. Among them is the finalization of Run/Archery rules in the near future, and the Berlin experience was of a great help in this respect.
