BOWSTRINGS
We have received statements from both BCY Inc and Brownell Co informing us that the Spectra fibres produced by Honeywell in the USA have been 80% secured by the US Government for military use. The other 20% has been allocated to the fishing industry.
Many of the products produced by Brownell are therefore having to change from using Spectra to the Dyneema fibres which are produced in The Netherlands.
BCY, however, already use Dyneema in their string materials and have only used Spectra to a small degree in some of their serving materials.
We do have some stocks of the Spectra based Brownell products which will remain at existing prices until stocks run dry.
The main Brownell products that are affected by these changes are...
- TS-1 changes to TS-1 Plus
- Fast Flight changes to Fast Flight Plus
- #2 & #2 Special will be REPLACED by the #1D serving
On the BCY side...
- 2D & 2S serving changes to 3D

Sia Brownell che BCY ci hanno informato che le fibre Spectra prodotte da Honeywell negli USA sono state per l'80% assicurate al governo USA per usi militari e per il 20% allocate all'industria della pesca.
Molti dei prodotti Brownell perciò dovranno cambiare il filato usato da Spectra a Dyneema, prodotto nei Paesi Bassi.
BCY invece usa già Dyneema nelle corde, e fa solo un piccolo utilizzo di Spectra per i serving.
Noi abbiamo uno stock di prodotti Brownell con filato Spectra che manterranno il prezzo invariato fino ad esaurimento scorte.
I prodotti Brownell che saranno interessati dalla modifica sono:
- TS-1 diventa TS-1 Plus
- Fast Flight diventa Fast Flight Plus
- #2 & #2 Special saranno RIMPIAZZATI dal serving #1D
Sul versante BCY:
- i serving 2D & 2S diventano 3D
